Using Hotwire to Find Hotel Bargains
Once you see the search results for the Omaha area on Hotwire you will notice that, unlike Priceline, the prices are already all laid out for you. Let’s assume that you only want to book a hotel on Hotwire. One of Hotwire’s options for the Omaha area, at the time this article was written, is $93 per room per night for a 4 star hotel in the Downtown Omaha area. Another option is $65 per room per night for a 3 star hotel in the Downtown Omaha area. Once you buy one these options, you cannot get your money back. So it makes sense to get a good idea of what type of hotel you’ll be getting at the predetermined price.
Head to betterbidding.com to see what type of hotels other users got for the Omaha area. Scroll down to where it says “Montana / Nebraska / New Hampshire / New Mexico” and then go to the “Hotwire – Montana / Nebraska / New Hampshire / New Mexico” subforum. At the top of the page there is a “pinned” page which lists hotels for each zone in the Omaha area. Of course, this list does not show all the hotels under each zone for the Omaha area, but it will give you an idea of what to expect. At this subforum you will also find that people have posted what hotel they got on Hotwire, what its neighborhood was, what the star level for that hotel was, what amenities it has, and, of course, what price they got it for.
One user on betterbidding.com also made a good observation that you can get a good idea of what type of hotels Hotwire will give you by searching for a vacation package for the same area and then matching the star level and amenities you see in the package to the unidentified hotels Hotwire gives you in the hotel search results.
So which is better for getting Omaha cheap hotels, Priceline or Hotwire? It’s a matter of opinion. But overall, users feel that Priceline offers the better deals, assuming you use the rebidding strategy (search Priceline rebidding on Google). Hotwire.com is more simple to use and still offers very good deals in your search for deals. It also lists what type of amenities you’ll get, unlike Priceline.
