Things to Do in the Phoenix-Sedona, Arizona Area

This is my first in a series of things to do in the Phoenix-Sedona Arizona area. There are many things to see and do in the Sedona-Phoenix area. Visitors and residents delight in the year-round beauty of the area. It’s easy to spend several weeks in Sedona-Phoenix exploring canyons, enjoying red rock trails or visiting the area’s sacred sites.

In addition to enjoying the outdoors, there are many other things to do in the Sedona-Phoenix area. Activities in and around the Sedona-Phoenix area include art galleries, musical and theatrical performances, spiritual and personal enrichment activities, annual festivals and many other community events.

One of my favorite recreational activities is Hiking.

There are few places I’d rather go hiking than in the Sedona-Phoenix area. It seems like each hike I have gone on has its own unique character. There is an extensive network of trails in Sedona and they are as varied as their degree of difficulty, unique location and historical significance. Some of my hikes lead to high elevations while others led me beside winding creeks. With awesome views of distant vistas all of the hikes were beautiful. It’s hard to pick a favorite hike, but in my opinion you can’t go wrong. Naturally remembering good trail etiquette and removing any litter you bring in will help others to enjoy the inherent beauty of Arizona.

Another recreational activity I love is Mountain Biking

Sedona has a huge network of bike trails, some of which can be hiked as above. With new paths being added all the time some of the most beautiful border the Red Rock Scenic Byway (Highway 179). There are certain restrictions for some of the bike trails in and around the Byway.

Once a year the Sedona Century bicycle event and the Sedona Bike Bash, attracts bicycle enthusiasts from all over. It is an all-day party for lovers of bikes and their families.
