The Royal Westmoreland Villa
The Royal Westmoreland Villa resort in Barbados was conceived following the success of the renowned Sandy Lane hotel and resort, rated as one of the best hotels in the world. The land adjacent to the Sandy Lane golf course was cultivated with sugar cane, an agricultural activity very much in decline in the Caribbean in recent years. The growth of tourism on the island meant that the land could be allocated to more profitable use.
The Westmoreland resort could never compete on equal terms with Sandy Lane, as it lacks direct water frontage on the famous Barbados west coast, where some of the world’s best beaches are located. Nonetheless the site offered spectacular views over the coastline and was the perfect setting for creating an excellent property and leisure resort.
A UK developer bought the land, over 200 acres in all, in mid nineties and set out to create a beautiful resort. It was named The Royal Westmoreland Villa resort, in recognition of the island’s connection with her majesty the queen by being a commonwealth state. The magnificent 18 hole golf course is challenging from the back tees but less so from the front tees for the average golfer.
The clubhouse is the centrepiece of The Royal Westmoreland Villa, built in true Caribbean architecture with natural ventilation and light. The resort is now completed and offers the visitor a choice of magnificent villas and apartments fronting the golf fairways with beautiful views of the ocean. The Royal Westmoreland Villa resort, a worthy villa to buy.
There are a great selection of private villas, townhouses and apartments for rental in the Royal Westmoreland Villa Resort on the island of Barbados.
