Our Vacation on Lake Hartwell

We decided we needed a break from the hustle and bustle of our city life and take a break in the country. South Carolina to be exact. We settled on Lake Hartwell which is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers. The Lake Hartwell comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with nearly 1000 miles of shoreline. It is also very close to the mountains.

Lake Hartwell is one of the southeast’s largest and most popular public recreation lakes with many public parks, marinas, and campgrounds located around the lake and a great variety of outdoor and recreational activities. The thousands of acres of land that surround the lake are very popular with hunting parties that enjoy the wild turkey, deer and wild boar.

While searching for Lake Hartwell rentals, we found and stayed at a beautiful, large (4 bedrooms 3 bath), fully equipped lake home, with a beautiful stone fireplace, country style kitchen, and breathtaking Lake Hartwell views from a huge deck with 7 person sunken hot tub. During our stay we were able to continue with our work via high speed Wifi internet (PC computer with printer were also provided on the premises), and relax with a big screen TV (with satellite), or playing on the full size pool table.

Our rural hideaway was pet friendly (with about 3/4 acre for pets to run around on) and all 10 people in our party had a comfortable place to sleep. Local towns were not far away (Seneca, Clemson and Greenville) and we were able to rent a small boat which we could moor at the houses’ private dock. The private dock also provided great fishing (again, fishing rods were provided as was a 14 foot John Boat). We even had time to take in a local college football game at “Death Valley” stadium which was just up the road at Clemson.

We returned for our amazing vacation fully rested with plenty of stories of our adventures on Lake Hartwell and our wonderful accommodation. We would definitely stay there again.
