Cruise Vacations For Families

Cruise vacations for families are a great way to spend family time together, make new friends and have an overall enjoyable experience. In this fast paced world, bonding as a family is hard. Cruising is a great way to be together and be in a safe and fun environment. So is there enough entertainment on board to keep the kids happy?

Children tend to make many friends when vacationing on a cruise ship. It’s like a big summer camp for most kids and there are plenty of day activities for the young ones. Children entertainment programs run side-by-side to adult entertainment programs. This means you can have your child go to their social activity while you and your wife (or significant other) go off to “play” with your own friends. Most ships have nurseries, on-board nannies, kiddie pool, dance clubs and video game rooms. Occasionally, there are on-board babysitters that can be hired for an additional cost.

So what type of activities are available for your children? There are many on-board programs for children while the ship is at sea, however, the activities become more limited when the ship is at port. If you do not want your child to join in on the on-shore activities, check to see if the ship’s playroom is supervised. Older children and teens will have a variety of activities that are targeted towards their age group. Teens can have a run of the ship experience and will be able to mingle and create long lasting friendships. Some activities on-board for teens are; discos, pool parties, karaoke, dances, computer gaming, arcades and talent shows. There are on-board sporting activities and gymnasiums for the more active youth.

Here is a list of ships that tend to offer better services for youth:

Aida Cruises
Carnival Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Link
Princess Cruises
Royal Caribbean International
