Get the Cheapest Flights – Tips For Seniors

In today’s economy, most everyone hopes to find the cheapest plane tickets available.  This is certainly true for the seniors in our society, as many are on a fixed-income but still want and deserve to enjoy traveling.

How Senior Travelers Can Save Money?

A number of airlines sell senior discount packs that include four one-way tickets.  Other airlines offer cheap airfare discounts by taking a fixed percentage off regular airfares. Unfortunately, these low airfare tickets are not necessarily cheaper than the regular discounted fares.  So, in actuality, senior fares may not be the cheapest plane tickets or any less costly than the low airfare tickets already offered to the general public.

Even though senior fares might cost more than an airline’s advertised specials, the cost is rarely more than a few dollars, and senior fare rates have advantages.  Sometimes senior fares are not as restrictive as regular airfares, and the tickets might offer last-minute travel accommodations and are usually refundable.  In other words, if you need to cancel a flight and can be flexible with your travel dates, the senior low airfare tickets may be the best option for you.

What’s available for seniors?

Most likely the cheapest plane tickets will be offered by the biggest carriers in the United States, and chances are that you will be flying with one of them.

Delta Shuttle, for instance, offers cheap airfare for passengers beginning at age 62.  There are 16 daily flights between New York and Boston, and 15 daily flights between New York and Washington, D.C., excluding Saturday and Sunday.  However, this airline does offer reduced weekend airfare schedules.

American Airlines, American Eagle and American Connection offer low airfare tickets in some domestic markets for seniors age 65 and older.

Southwest Airlines offer some cheap airline tickets to travelers age 65 or older, but may have restrictions and limitations.  Fares with this airline are subject to change until tickets are actually purchased. However, senior tickets are fully refundable.

United Airlines and many of their partners offer as much as 50 per cent off luxury hotels and resorts, for people who choose to join Silver Wings Plus.  However, these savings are restricted to travelers age 55 and older.

Northwest Airlines offer senior low airfare tickets if the passenger can verify senior status before proceeding with the booking process.

US Airways does not offer any senior discounts, but does offer other reduced fares.

Continental offers cheap airline tickets for seniors who are 65 and older, and traveling to select destinations.

Seniors can find more low airfare tickets from some non-profit organizations, such as the American Association of Retired Persons.

A Cheap Flight For a Senior Citizen

Having spent the best years of their lives working and supporting the system, the least Senior citizens or Pensioners should enjoy in their twilight years is cheap airfares, cheap cruises and very cheap hotel accommodation. While some governments can be commended for the effort to subsidise local travel, heating and healthcare, a lot more still need to be done in areas like travel and tourism.

Instead the airlines and travel operators have turned reason on its head. For example: It costs almost double to buy travel insurance for a Senior; there are not enough quality holiday resorts catering for the older generation; and the tour operators treat pensioners with a patronising attitude.

Airlines Advertise Cheap Fares, But Make Up For it With Unpopular Fees

It’s been a long time since traveling by air was considered a luxury, and big event for a family to experience. I remember traveling with my grandparents when I was young and receiving great service from each airline we traveled on. The Biggest Airfare Myths

Do you ever wonder why you never seem to be able to find a truly good deal on travel and airfare? You have even visited the so-called discount third party airline sites and you still end up with a ticket that is too expensive. Why is it that no passenger on your flight seems to have paid the same amount for their ticket – yet they are all sitting in the same types of seat as you are and when you talk to your seatmate, you discover that their aunt works for the airline and that they paid “under $100.00″ for their ticket.

How can you possibly get the best and cheapest airfare possible when travelling? Do you feel as though you are the only person who does not seem to be aware of all the travel industry secrets? Unfortunately, you are not the only person who asks these questions, as a matter of fact, most people who travel have been overcharged for their airfare and this seems to be a continuing trend.

The reality is that airlines and third party discount airline sites are not interested in saving you money, because, obviously, the money you spend, goes directly into their pockets. While some argue that this cannot really happen anymore because of the competition in the airline industry, we could argue that the “stiff” competition has not altered the overall pricing strategies very much when it comes to airfare.

Anyone who travels on a regular basis knows that the prices have increased and the service has decreased – no matter what the airlines would have you believe!

I have even done research on the Net trying to find the best kept travel secrets and have come up with surprisingly little information.
