I had worked for an airline for many years, far too many to remember, and the area that I was in was in holiday reservations. I was on the phones with lots of various holiday destinations to choose from. We were suppose to be an authority on the far away places that the airline sold and one day we were told as part of our duties we had to go to the tropical island resorts so we could get acquainted with the product that we were selling.
How good was that! First thought was great I will pack my swimmers and then after we had a site inspection (we normally need to view properties that we sell so we are able to sell them better) we would then have free time.

I would make a confession upfront: I am totally biased against big airlines that have more or less constituted themselves into a monopoly of sorts at the expense of the small players and consumers. Let me explain what I mean.
Just to keep ticket prices artificially high, airlines would fly with half empty seats rather than a full board on discounted fares. Think about it, how many times have you flown on one of those “fully booked” flights only to discover once you are airborne, several vacant seats surrounding you and beyond.
